Book Review: JUST LISTEN

Author: Sarah Dessen
Number of Pages: 384
Publisher: Viking Juvenile
Release Date: April 6, 2006

From the outside, Annabel seems like she has everything she could ever want- a perfect family, a perfect body for modelling, a perfect life. On the inside, however, she is slowly falling apart. The ugly truth she's been holding back about the night she and Sophie became enemies is eating her from the inside out. She's all alone- or is she? Annabel gets to know Owen, a guy with a reputation for being angry and physical, and she realizes that you can't judge a book by its cover. Can Owen help Annabel come to terms with the truth, or will she end up being swallowed whole by reality?

Sarah Dessen is an amazing writer. She turns average girly romances into novels that I actually want to read. Each character is unique, and problems that the main character faces are ones that girls everywhere are dealing with as we speak. There were some slow parts, but nothing that made me want to fall asleep. Some parts were light and funny, while others were more serious and made me want to cry. Overall, this was a fantastic book. This is the third Sarah Dessen novel I have read, and I will absolutely be reading more of them in the future!!!!
